Questions & Answers from Identifying and Breaking Curses Series

Question:  Why do people say that there is no sin bigger than any other sin?  Where does that come from?

Answer:  Because they don’t know any better.  It comes from the devil.  God judges all sin.  He does not hate the sinner, but he hates the sin.  And that’s what we have to understand, that God doesn’t condone sin.  He said “the wages of sin is death.”  As we read in Galatians 6, that when we sow to the flesh the Bible says we reap decay, ruin, and destruction.  And He says the wages of sin is death.  The price tag for living in a continual place of sin is death.

There are some believers who teach “Once saved always saved, and I can go just as far as I want to go and nothing is going to happen to me.”  That’s not really true.  There is scripture in Hebrews and other places that indicate that there is a line.  That you can cross the line.  You can frustrate the grace of God.  You have to opt out.  You have to be a mature believer, and the Bible says, you have to have tasted of the heavenly gifts.  You have to be in that place where you love God, you serve God, you know all the things He’s done for you, you’ve operated in the gifts of the Spirit, and then you consciously say, I reject Jesus—I don’t want Him anymore.  If you would do that you could opt out.  Now that’s a sin that there is no forgiveness for.  So, you can see how that is weightier than you stealing some paper clips from work.  (See scriptures above that reference sins that were punishable by death.)

Question:  Referring to Lamentations 3:64-66, is it wrong to pray against your enemies?

Answer:  No.  There will be times in spiritual warfare where God will direct you to pray against the works of the enemy that are operating through people.  Here is what the promise of God gives to us in Genesis 12, He said, “I will bless those that bless you…,” because remember we’re the seed of Abraham.  Remember, He said, in Galatians 3:29, “If you belong to Christ, then are you Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.”  What did he promise Abraham in Genesis Chapter 12:1-3?  “Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”  We already have a promise that if people try to curse us they will be cursed.

Now, In reference to Lamentations 3:64-66, we really don’t have to pray that, but God is just telling us—that along with Jeremiah 32—that anytime we’ve been involved in some of this perversion to the sense we can open the door to those sins coming on your children and them operating in that.  And that’s why He tells us to live right, live holy.

The church is really preaching greasy grace these days.  There is supposed to be a difference between how we live and how the world lives.  The Bible says, “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?”  No, God forbid.  So, there has to come a time, yes we’re growing and we don’t always get it perfect and sometimes we miss it, but we shouldn’t be in the habit of practicing sin if the Holy Spirit is truly in us.  Because, if the Holy Spirit is in us, He’s the restrainer.  People say, ‘Well, I fell into sin.’  You really didn’t fall into sin.  You kind of planned it.  You premeditated and you did it.  And, yes, there is forgiveness for that but you don’t know where the line is.  You don’t know when you’re going to cross that line to the point of no return.  The Bible says in Revelations that the enemy deceives the whole world.  He can really play a number on you that you think you’re doing right, but you’re doing wrong.  You think you’re making decisions to do what you’re doing, and it’s a conscious decision but it’s really not—you’re being deceived by the enemy.

Question:  How do we finally break the curse?

Answer:  That’s what we are going to do.  We’re going to pray to break curses off of you.

Comment:  In reference to praying against your enemies.  There are actually scriptures in the Bible where we can pray against our enemies.  Specifically, Psalm 35 and Psalm 70 will allow you to say a prayer and God will take care of your enemies.  The book of Psalms is filled with Psalms to pray against your enemies.

Scripture:  Psalm 35:1-6 – “Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.  Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.  Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.  Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.  Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the Lord chase them.  Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the Lord persecute them.” (KJV)

Scripture:  Psalm 70 – “Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O Lord.  Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.  Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha.  Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.  But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, make no tarrying.” (KJV)

Additional Comments:

When I first got saved, I didn’t think that was something you did or was supposed to do, but as I grew in the things of God and God began to show me more…there are warfare prayers that she was sharing in Psalms and there are a number of scriptures that you pray against the enemy.  We had never done that, but last year, God started directing us to pray against our enemies—some heavy duty stuff.  It would scare me because the Spirit of God would be prompting me to do that.  And we forget that God is a loving kind God.  He’s a gentle lamb, but in addition to being the gentle lamb, He’s a lion.  The Bible calls Him the Lion of the tribe of Judah and He roars.  He has a roar.  The Bible says He is the consuming fire and there is a wrath side of God as well.  We don’t ever want to be on that side.  The Bible says that His wrath is reserved for His enemies.

It’s just like when Paul was persecuting the church in Acts 9, all of a sudden he finds himself on his face, knocked off his horse and Jesus appears—and He said, “Paul, Paul, why are you persecuting me?”  Now, here he was persecuting the church, but Jesus said I and the church are one.  I am the head of the church as the body.  If you’re coming against the church, you’re coming against me.  And He knocked him down and said, since you’ve got a problem with Christians you’re going to be one.  Here it was, he was like an Osama Bin Laden who gets gloriously saved that even when he gets saved, the other believers were afraid of him.  They didn’t think he was saved.  They were really afraid to be around him until they really began to see him press into the things of God, and God used him mightily.

Summary:

Maybe you are being affected by a curse right now, even as you heard the Word of God being taught tonight, you need to understand that the truth of the Word of God is…that legally, if you are a believer, YOU HAVE BEEN REDEEMED!
